Alberta Slalom Canoe Kayak has been managing slalom races and provincial level programs in Alberta since 2007. Created as an arm of the Alberta Whitewater association the goal is to provide amazing experiences and opportunities to excel in the slalom discipline!
Their core program is the High Performance program where we aim to take club level athletes and progress them to National Teams. Since 2007 we’ve had dozens of Alberta athletes represent Canada on the international stage. From Junior Worlds to World Cups to World Championships we’ve had multiple to 20 finished. We’ve also helped athletes in the creek racing discipline compete at the North Fork and SickLine races. The athletes train on a daily basis while still being able to live close to home and attend university.
Domestically, they host a series of Alberta Cup races, a cross-over creeking partnership with Aquabatics Calgary and we usually host a National Level event every two years.
The Toby Creek Festival is a great event to be involved with because it helps us stay connected with the paddling community in Alberta. It’s great to be part of a truly collaborative effort where the goal is to provide a super fun and safe weekend of racing. We also co-run slalom courses for creek paddlers in order to share some of the techniques and tactics that can be used for creek racing and everyday paddling.
ASCK have donated $500 cash and countless hours of volunteer and organization time since the beginning of the event. We are so grateful to be partners with them in this great event
